Brass quintet

In Medias Brass

In Medias Brass was formed in January 2010. Its members Richard Kresz, Tamás Pálfalvi, János Benyus, Attila Sztán and József Bazsinka Jr. earned their degrees at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. The ensemble has won prizes at noted international competitions such as in Jeju (South Korea), Passau (Germany), Stanjel (Slovenia), Osaka (Japan), Chieri (Italy), Lyon (France), and Knoxville (Tennessee, USA). They regularly perform in and outside of Hungary, including in the USA, Dubai and South-Korea as well as in many European countries. In Daegu, South-Korea, they taught masterclasses, too. In November 2011, they were awarded the „Junior Prima” title, which is the highest award for young and talented people in any field of art in Hungary.

Their concerts, due to their artistic and technical aptitude, are simultaneously characterized by virtuosity and intimacy. In their ever expanding repertoire, In Medias Brass combine Renaissance pieces, arrangements and works written for brass quintets, as well as some of the most recent contemporary pieces.
