Christian Schmitt is regarded as one of the most sought-after concert organists internationally. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bamberg Symphony, with whom he shares a close collaboration as Principal Organist. Highlights include appearances at the BBC Proms, Carnegie Hall, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Salzburg Festival.
As a soloist, he has worked with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Paavo Järvi, Christoph Eschenbach, Jakub Hrůša, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste, as well as with artists such as Magdalena Kožená, Matthias Goerne, and Thomas Hampson. For Deutsche Grammophon, he recorded the album Prayer with Kožená, as well as works by Bach for the Bach 333 edition. His recording of Widor’s Organ Symphonies received the Echo Klassik Award.
